Hopman Cup Cancelled Due to Paris Games in France

Hopman Cup Cancellation Announcement

The reputed Hopman Cup, initially scheduled to take place in France, was cancelled on Tuesday in a bid to stave off logistical struggles with the Paris Olympics.

This mixed doubles tennis contest was supposed to occur in Nice by the close of July. In contrast, the Olympic tennis competition will take place in the renowned Roland-Garros from July 27 to August 4.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed that the Hopman Cup will tread back on courts in 2025.

“Players that had enlisted for this year’s competition in Nice have been notified of the verdict, and we eagerly look forward to their participation on the French Riviera next year,” statements credited to ITF President David Haggerty reveal.

Named after the iconic Australian tennis player, Harry Hopman, the Hopman Cup held its inaugural event in 1989, maintaining an annual cycle until 2020. The tournament saw a revival last year in France and was won by the team of Croatian players, Donna Vekic and Borna Coric.
